How to fill out instrument proficiency check ipc

01
Gather all necessary documents and materials required for the IPC, including your pilot's license, medical certificate, and instrument rating.
02
Review the IPC requirements outlined in the FAA's Instrument Rating Practical Test Standards (PTS). Familiarize yourself with the specific tasks and maneuvers you will be evaluated on during the IPC.
03
Schedule an appointment with a certified flight instructor (CFI) who is authorized to administer the IPC.
04
On the day of the IPC, arrive at the designated location early to allow time for pre-flight preparations.
05
Begin the IPC by performing a thorough pre-flight inspection of the aircraft. Ensure all systems are functioning properly and the aircraft is airworthy.
06
Once in the aircraft, the CFI will provide you with simulated instrument conditions, meaning you will be wearing a view-limiting device, such as a hood or glasses that restrict your outside visibility.
07
Follow the directions provided by the CFI and perform the required tasks and maneuvers. These may include practicing instrument approaches, holds, unusual attitudes, and emergency procedures.
08
During the IPC, the CFI will evaluate your ability to navigate solely by reference to instruments, maintain control of the aircraft, and effectively respond to simulated emergencies.
09
After completing all required tasks and maneuvers, the CFI will provide you with an oral and/or written debriefing, discussing your performance during the IPC.
10
If you successfully meet all the IPC requirements and demonstrate the necessary proficiency, the CFI will endorse your logbook, indicating that you have successfully completed the IPC.
