Overview. We provide a broad overview of the history and activities of this corporation. We discuss the corporate structure as it existed in 2006 as well as the management's vision for the future and management's decisions. 2. Management. The corporation's executive committee was established in 2006 following the merger between the YWCA and the Youngstown Chamber of Commerce. In 2006, the committee's members were David Cope, director, YWCA; Don Bradley, director, Youngstown Chamber; Paul Hensley, director, Business Development Group; and Robert L. Flanders, treasurer. Robert L. Flanders subsequently retired in September 2007. 3. Business Strategy. In 2006, management focused its efforts on developing two separate programs: a community garden initiative and a public awareness campaign. The two programs were designed to complement each other and allow for the use of both public and private spaces. The first of these programs, which began in early 2006, was called “The Urban Gardens Project.” The organization, which was incorporated as the Urban Gardens Society for Youngstown, was organized and sponsored by the YWCA in January 2006. The YWCA's role in the garden initiative, referred to as the “Urban Garden Project,” was mainly to establish the program in the Downtown YWCA and establish the gardens' initial sites. The YWCA also acted as a public information and media outreach and promotion agency. On March 29, 2006, the YWCA, an organization chartered in 1919, was listed on the YWCA website under the category “corporations and business companies.” 4. Board of Directors. Our review of the membership of the corporation's three-member Board of Directors is confined to the members listed above and does not reflect any additional members. A-1. David Cope.
