How to fill out cardiopulmonary resuscitation

How to fill out cardiopulmonary resuscitation:

01
Check for responsiveness: Approach the person and gently shake their shoulders to determine if they respond or wake up.
02
Call for help: If the person does not respond, immediately call emergency services or ask someone nearby to do so.
03
Open the airway: Gently tilt the person's head back and lift their chin to open their airway. This helps ensure proper breathing.
04
Check for breathing: Look, listen, and feel for any signs of breathing for about 10 seconds. If the person is not breathing or only gasping, proceed to the next step.
05
Administer chest compressions: Place the heel of one hand on the center of the person's chest, between the nipples. Stack your other hand on top and interlock the fingers. Keep your arms straight and pressed down firmly, compressing at least 2 inches into the chest. Perform chest compressions at a rate of about 100-120 compressions per minute.
06
Provide rescue breaths: Pinch the person's nose closed, tilt their head back, and give two rescue breaths by making a complete seal over their mouth with yours and blowing until you see their chest rise. Each breath should last about one second.
07
Continue CPR cycles: Repeat the cycle of 30 chest compressions followed by two rescue breaths until help arrives or until the person shows signs of life.
08
Use an automated external defibrillator (AED) if available: If an AED is nearby, follow the directions provided to use it as soon as possible. It can be a life-saving device in restoring the person's normal heart rhythm.
09
Stabilize the person and wait for help: Once emergency medical services are on their way, continue to perform CPR and provide support to the person until trained professionals take over.

Who needs cardiopulmonary resuscitation:

01
Anyone who experiences sudden cardiac arrest: Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is essential for individuals who have experienced sudden cardiac arrest, where their heart has stopped beating or is not pumping effectively.
02
Choking victims: In cases where a person is unable to breathe due to choking, performing CPR may dislodge the obstruction and restore normal breathing.
03
Drowning victims: CPR is crucial for individuals who have been submerged in water for an extended period, as it helps provide oxygen to vital organs and improves the chances of survival.
04
Accidents or trauma: Individuals involved in severe accidents or traumatic events may require CPR if their heart stops beating as a result of the injuries sustained.
05
Drug overdoses: Certain drug overdoses, such as opioids, can lead to respiratory arrest, making CPR necessary to maintain oxygenation until medical help arrives.
Remember, learning CPR can empower you to save lives in emergency situations. It is always recommended to undergo proper training and certification to ensure you are prepared to provide effective CPR when needed.
