In this lab, I'll guide you through the process of creating a Glasses JavaFX application utilizing Glasses-based technology. The goal is to implement a simple, yet powerful, REST API to enable our Glasses JavaFX application to perform the following common tasks: Create and retrieve data within a single application using a standard query language or via JSON data encoding.
Query multiple users, devices and/or services.
Retrieve the location and current status of an application's running location and a list of other application's applications and devices.
Retrieve information relating to the current Internet services (HTTP, IMAP, POP3, SMTP, LDAP).
Retrieve the status, and allow remote users to access the application via a browser/HTTPS protocol. To build a REST-based application, a JavaFX application in its native Java UI requires some following functionality: A method to retrieve the application status and the current Internet status.
A method to retrieve the location of the Glasses application.
A method to view all applications on the device.
A method to request the location of specific application or device. The REST API is based on the Java-based Glasses Platform REST (GRC) API which was designed for Glasses-based devices (such as smartphones). This REST API includes a set of REST methods that enables a Java application to perform common tasks that the traditional REST APIs can't do for many applications: Requests allow an application to access data stored in the Glasses' application on the device.
Retrieve a single resource or a list of all available resources at a single time.
Retrieve and modify existing resources, such as a list of applications and/or a single application.
Call a REST API (either a server or client) to retrieve or modify data.
Access a REST API on a different device or browser from the current device.
