The eight buttons change the mode of the table from the default of table to display, to data summary, to report; the eighth button creates data aggregations. In addition to the options described in the help file, the eight buttons include two other functions: (1) The option, on the second line of the left margin of the window, to clear all data for the current aggregation window, and (2) a switch for changing from a table (table mode) to the display page mode. Garage provides a lot of features, the most important of them being its ability to automatically prepare and display databases and its ability to aggregate data. To get started with the Garage program, download the file GARAGE.DOCK (2 MB). To make it easy for you to read the help file, I have included an outline version. A few brief comments about GARAGE
As well as a simple program for preparing and storing a database, GARAGE can also be used interactively at times to generate reports. The reports are usually for the administrator: information about the program, how much disk space you need to allocate for your GAP model, data on the performance of the system, and other statistics and results. For that purpose it is useful to generate a summary data file, such as an SDS file. This is useful for distributing the reports. To generate the data summary file, click the Report button. Alternatively, if there is a need to create a file from scratch and then read it in a spreadsheet, then click Save Report in the drop-down menu next to the Report button. The Save Report dialog then appears. The Save Report dialog is also used to read the report into an Excel spreadsheet, and to save an Excel spreadsheet as SDS file. This is useful in distributing the tables. However, the program is designed to generate the report at all times. Therefore, once you create the summary data file, you can delete it, and it will not be needed. An example of an Excel spreadsheet created from scratch is in FITC-EXAMPLE.XLS and is shown in the GARAGE help files (see also FITC-PROGRAMMING.XLS in the same directory).
