This type of systems is currently being replaced by the current airborne threat-reporting systems (e.g. AEGIS, etc.). However, the use of such a radar system remains a very valuable capability, and GLOBES II has proved itself to be a very effective medium-range threat-reporting and strike system. GLOBES II has been very successful in its duties in the Norwegian Armed Forces.
