Biotransformation of the IAA into 2,8-dihydrohydroxyhippuric acid (DH HPA; 15-methyl-tetRAO[10-cis]oxy-4-(3?-pyridyl)-1-naphthylidene-1-carboxamido[1,3-d]priding) in these rats stimulated the weight and fat gain in the diet containing IAA. Dietary treatments of IAA (5.2, 27.3, or 62.4 mg/kg diet) resulted in similar body size changes. The diets containing IAA reduced the blood pressure in the rats that received the diets containing IAA by a mean of 25 MMH. This reduction was dose-related; the decrease was less in the diet containing 5.2 mg/kg compared to the diet containing 27.
