Instructions and Help about orientation form
Hey can everybody hear me okay awesomeall right hey everybody welcome to thisformlabs webinar and supportsorientation and layzurs understandingSLA 3d printing my name is Jorden pasLovitz I work with the customer successteam here at formlabsit's my job to make sure our users bothinternal and external have the info thatyou guys need to print well and you knowtroubleshoot effectively so first alittle bit about us if you didn'talready knowwe're form labs were based just outsideof Boston Massachusetts were formed in2011 and our first product of form 1 waslaunched in on Kickstarter in 2012 andthat gave us that first group boost in aproductionafter that we announced an upgrade kitand then in 2015 we released our currentflagship product the form 2 and thenafter that we rolled out severalfunctional resins including dental SG inearly 2016 and that made us the firstand so far only desktop SLA 3d printerwith a biocompatible resin offering sowe prepared a lot of content today togive you folks an insider look at theformat's development process and by thetime you walk away from this webinarwe'd like you to understand not only ourprocess but or our SLA process but alsoSLA processes in general and alsounderstand potential current orientationconcerns so things like Islands andsuction cuppyif don't if you don't really know whatI'm referring to yet don't worry we'regoing to get into that little bit moredetail but like I said we've got a lotof info let's stop talking about we'regoing to learn about and just get intolearning it so we're going to start witha brief overview of SLA as a processwhat you're looking at here is a diagramof the traditional way of doing SLAlaser fires into a reflective mirrorthat's above the tank which bounces itdown into a vat of liquid resin belowthe first layer of course starts on thebuild platform and then once that laserfinishes hardening the layer the buildplatform moves down and that sweeperglides across to clear off any debris orresidue or anything like that and thenthe next layer occurs so that's that'sthe general core of how a traditionalisolate process is done um of course theresin itself is photoreactiveuh and it was originally that processwas first pioneered in the 1970s byJapanese researcher dr. Hideo Kojima hewas the first one who developed theprocess of using UV light to curephotoreactive resin and after that checkall the three systems coined the termsterile lithography in 1986 and the restis history you know we found in 3dsystems and it's continuedthe technology has continued to growfrom there you can actually still seesome of that influence of the earlyinnovation today STL files the standardformat for every 3d printer every outthere every CAD CAM machine out therethat actually stands for sterile toothography um there's a bunch of acronymslike standard tessellation format butthe core of that is uh stare lithographyall the way back in the 80s alright so Igot a question for everybody here umtake a look at these machines and...
