This overview of GMP is intended to present the research results from the 2004 PIONEER CONSULTING, LLC research study of optics and photonic devices, which included numerous field tests of numerous laser applications in a number of applications. Results from the PIONEER CONSULTING, LLC study were published in a peer-reviewed journal. This overview is based upon data from the peer-reviewed article “A Comparative Analysis of the Photonic Efficiency and Performance of Laser Devices,” which will be available from the above referenced publication, under publisher's proprietary publication code: P1. PIONEER CONSULTING, LLC ASSESSMENT OF PHOTONIC LASER PHYSIOLOGY IN LASER DEVICES (APPLICATIONS OF LASER AND HETERO NIC DEVICES) For this evaluation it is necessary to compare the photonic efficiency and performance of two types of light-emitting diodes (LEDs), and some type of optical control device. The two types and devices tested in this study are: a semiconductor LED, such as LPD879 or LED 869 (NKA2.2-11.2), and an optical HID device, such as IR-BOT (R35-9) and IR-QS10.1 (R35). The LED is a general-purpose LED which has been designed to be employed in a variety of applications which require high output brightness and low power consumption (e.g., industrial, safety lighting, emergency lighting) and it achieves this level of performance by employing a monochromatic backlit LED and the same semiconductor as used in the HID device. The LED device is an active light-emitting diode, or LED, which has a very high lifetime operating temperature of up to 800 °C. There are many types of LEDs with different performance specifications, but they all are similar except for the semiconductor material used in the backlit LED.
