Under an agreement reached by the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education, the Kentucky Community and Technical College Systems, the Ohio Department of Higher Education, and the Boards of Trustees at participating institutions, individuals who have been legal residents of certain Kentucky counties for the previous 12 months are eligible to receive in-state fees at Ohio University - Southern and Athens campuses only.
In-state fees will be assessed for courses taken on the Ohio University Southern and Athens campuses only. Courses completed at any other campus in the Ohio University system will be charged at the nonresident rate.
The agreement must be renewed every two years and is currently valid only through June 30, 2025.
If approved for in-state fees under this agreement and currently receiving federal financial assistance, the amount of that aid will be adjusted to reflect the change in tuition charges.
To be considered for in-state fees, applicants must provide a completed application, and depending on their age, a copy of their Kentucky State Tax return or their parent's tax return, or documentation related to their home ownership or lease, as well as their Kentucky Driver License or State Identification Card.
Residency reclassification is never retroactive to previous semesters.
Residency applications and supporting documents have a retention period of 6 years from the term for which in-state tuition is sought.
