Instructions and Help about form ssa-44 discontinue prior

Hi everybody this is Elias with Martin and associates insurance, and today I'm going to talk about how you can apply to get your Part B and Part D income related monthly adjustment amount reduced because what happens is Medicares going to look at your gross adjusted income from two years ago they're always going to look back two years and if you were a higher income earner what they're going to do is they're going to charge you more for Part B and Part D, and it's called thermal which stands for income related monthly adjustment amount and if you've had a life-changing event and these are things like you've stopped working, or you've had a reduction in your work hours if you've lost a spouse things like that would qualify you for possibly qualify you for a lower amount that you would have to pay for your Part B and Part D extra Herman and what you'll do is there's a form from the Social Security Administration that you can complete, and you'll want to complete it fill out all the information and send it to the Social Security Administration, and they will, you know decide whether you qualify to get the reduced amount and today the reason why I'm filming this video today is that because I got an email from a client of mine who was making a higher income, and she was getting charged more for Part B of Medicare and Part D of Medicare, so I just sent her the forms and she kind of did it all on her own since really we can't get involved with anything between you and the Social Security Administration that's got to be done all on your own, but she completed all the forms sent out whatever was required on that form sent it over the Social Security Administration, and today she emailed me back saying that she was approved to the lowest amount which in this year 2017 is a hundred and thirty-four dollars for Part B and no extra income related adjustment amount for Part D so instead of paying you know upwards of two hundred sixty-three hundred dollars a month for Part B now she's paying one thirty-four a month for Part B and what they're going to do is they're going to refund her previous months that she's paid extra for since she stopped working I think it was back in May they're going to refine her you know May June July that extra premium amount that she was paying, so that's how you can apply and see if you qualify to get your Part B and Part D income related adjustment amount reduced to the standard rate which would be you know depending on what you could qualify for you can get it reduced all the way down to one hundred and thirty-four dollars a month you
