As a second part we propose the TREE 2010 Entity Ranking module which allows the ranking of a related entity as a function of the length of a related entity. The final module will be used in the related entity finding of the National Singing Day, April 28, 2010. Keywords TREE 2010, NE Extraction, NE Ranking, Related Entity Finding. Introduction The TREE 2010 project began in 2005, a project aimed towards understanding different entity extraction techniques. TREE stands for Tree Extraction, Rotation, and Representation, and is a research project under the umbrella of Project NE. Since September 1, 2005, we held three events. The first event was held between September 1 and September 15 and featured two talks on related entity extraction techniques. On the first day, we had a session of about 30 speakers discussing entity extraction approaches. The second day we held a workshop with about 40 people and two presentations (Na name et al. 2005; Kanji et al. 2005). The third day's event held the opening session on related entity extraction in the form of speaker presentations and a discussion session. The topics covered in each of these three events are well known and well discussed in related entity finding literature. Thus, in this paper we will only focus on one topic, which is related entity finding and ranking by length measures using NE, which was presented at TREE 2010. In this paper we focus on a single algorithm using a two-stage ranking technique called NE Ranking, which we will show is a fast algorithm for discovering related entities. The first stage of the process we are considering is extracting entities (represented as trees) related to a particular entity (represented as nodes), and ranking them as the tree grows or a new node is added to the tree. The second stage is extracting shorter entities from each tree representing a particular entity, and calculating the average value of each of these shorter entities. The third stage is returning a ranking of all the shorter entities of a given entity relative to the original entity. The final process of the NE related entity ranking, the TREE 2010 Entity Ranking module, will also be discussed separately in another paper. As our focus is on the NE algorithm, we will only focus on two aspects of the algorithm: (1) what we call the NE Extraction Technique, which describes how we extract related entities, (2) how we rank related entities by the length of the related entity.
