Location. The location of the area to be landscaped impacts the cost. In general, backyard landscaping projects are pricier because they are more likely to feature big-ticket items like a pool (which runs $14,000 to $42,000) or an outdoor kitchen (which can run $4,600 to $22,000).
I use workers from the San Francisco Day Labor Program for yard work and gardening, and the rate that the program charges essentially comes out to $15/hour. (There is a three-hour minimum and a $50 charge for that block of time, then $15/hour for each additional hour after that.)
When quoting, make sure you include the following key elements: Your landscaping company name and logo. Your contact details and steps detailing what the client needs to do to “action” the quote. Service descriptions with a dollar amount, so the client knows how much the landscaping job will cost.
Divide weekly overhead cost into hours worked for an hourly overhead cost ($1,000/100=$10 ). This means that for every labor hour you need to charge $10 to cover that cost. Multiply the hourly overhead cost by the number of man hours for the job ($10*240=$2400).
Successful lawn care and landscaping can have operating profit margins between 15% to 45%. Your operating profit margin tells you how much money you take home after deducting your operating costs—labor, material, equipment, and overhead costs.
