What Is the Wrestling Score Sheet and When Is It Used?

Every competition is a wonderful chance for a sportsman to show the skills he has mastered. One more reason for holding a competition is to figure out who is the best in their own particular sphere. Every sport has its own criteria for the identification of a person's skills. In most cases, it involves the measuring of achievements in points. Wrestling judges use the same method. To make careful tracking of all actions undertaken by the person during the competition, a specialized wrestling score sheet is used. It eases the score counting procedure and helps to identify the winner faster. Also, it is useful for the player to know about his/her strengths and weaknesses or possible mistakes. By knowing what pitfalls occurred, the person can work on avoiding them later on.

What Are the Components of the Wrestling Score Sheet?

The wrestling score sheet looks like a comparison spreadsheet that helps to examine and analyze a wrestler's physical form and results. It includes the following details:

The name of the organization hulding the sporting contest.

Next, the names of both teams are provided.

The date of the meeting and time it is ended are in the upper left-hand corner of the sheet.

List of wrestlers, including their weight and points for every period.

Since the winner cannot always be identified during the regular period, the additional overtime cells are available.

The last cells contain the final points of every personal player, as well as the sum of the team's ones.

At the end of the page, the final meeting result is provided.

The referee and team coaches certify this sample to say that they agree with the results.

Points are issued depending on the type of action the wrestler does (takedown, escape, reversal, near fall) and how long it takes. In some cases, they can be scored by the person's opponent like a penalty (for example, for forbidden tricks).
