What is inserting a watermark?

Inserting a watermark refers to the process of adding a translucent image or text to a document to signify authenticity or to convey ownership. This practice is common in legal documents, photographs, and various digital media where protection against unauthorized use is essential. Watermarks can be classified as either text-based—like "Confidential" or "Draft"—or image-based, utilizing logos or artistic designs.

The purpose of adding a watermark to PDF documents

Adding a watermark serves several purposes:

  1. 1.
It establishes ownership of the document.
  2. 2.
It helps prevent unauthorized copying or distribution.

This flexibility ensures that any necessary modifications can be made without starting over from scratch.

Is a watermark visible on all PDF readers?

While most modern PDF readers are capable of displaying watermarks, the visibility can depend on the opacity settings chosen during the watermark design. If a watermark is too faint or configured incorrectly, it may not clearly appear on all PDF viewing software. However, common applications like Adobe Acrobat and web viewers generally handle watermarks well.

Does a watermark increase the PDF file size?

Adding a watermark typically increases the PDF file size marginally, primarily depending on the complexity and resolution of the watermark image used, if applicable. Text-based watermarks will cause minimal changes to the file size, while high-resolution images might increase it more significantly. However, the increase is usually negligible compared to the overall size of the document.

Inserting watermarks into PDFs and other file types offers numerous advantages, including:

  1. 1.

User Friendly Site! I was thrilled to find a site that would allow me to modify PDF files. Furthermore, being able to save and share the files, once I modified them was extremely helpful. Overall, I found the whole site to be very user friendly.

Great customer service and solid product. I don't usually leave reviews, but this product deserves my time. Works very well in filling PDFs. Typing, checking boxes (using the checkmark or "x" feature), filling out tables, etc. Saving and editing again works well, though it isn't entirely intuitive the first time. Customer service was absolutely awesome! I realized, after signing up for a paid subscription, that I no longer needed the service. I cancelled online (or THOUGHT I did), but I must've had a glitch. When I got billed, I called and they issued me a refund no questions asked and zero hassle. Customer service was incredibly helpful. Product was great for filling out multiple long pdfs that only had slight variations (saved a copy and changed only the fields that I needed). Easy to use and quick to learn. I cancelled my subscription only because I realized I wouldn't be using it enough to justify the cost. Life changes!
