This article is written for users of Microsoft Word versions: 97, 2000, 2002, and 2003. If you are using a later version Word 2007 or later, this tip may not work for you. For a version of this tip written specifically for later versions of Word, click here: Formatting Currency.
Pages format table cells to display text, numbers, currency, percentages, date and time, and durations denoting a span of time. The cell format determines how data in the cell appears and how cell data is recognized by formulas that refer to that cell. Pages formats table cells automatically, so letter and numbers appear the way you type them. By default, cells formatted as numbers display as many decimal places as you type.
When you format a currency field, you can either choose the currency symbol from a list of common options, or open the Format data pane and manually format the field. Changing a field format changes it for all visuals in the analysis, but does not change it in the underlying data set. Manually formatting the field allows you to choose which symbol to use.
