For pdfFiller’s FAQs

Below is a list of the most common customer questions. If you can’t find an answer to your question, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
Choose a style. The cover letter and resume should look like they belong together. Pick the letterhead position. Make sure your name stands out. Include traditional contact information. Add your email address. Include technology based contact information. Put a subject line. Properly greet the recruiter.
What do I include in my cover letter heading? The heading provides your contact information, the date you are writing, and the address of the company to which you are applying. For your contact information, you will want to include the following: Your name.

Should your cover letter have the same header as the resume? Yes. The heading of your cover letter should match the heading of your resume. Use the same setup, fonts, and margins.
No employer needs to know how many files you have with “cover letter” in the name, or which draft number the letter they're getting sent is. Cover letter titles don't need to be unique, but uniform, instead. The only real change should be the date. Always edit and spell check your cover letter before you send it.
If just typing your address, the date goes directly underneath your address. If you write the letter over a couple of days, write the date the letter was finished. Write out the month and include the year. For example, a letter written on June 30 of 2009, would be dated June 30, 2009.
Heading: A letter of application should begin with both your and the employer's contact information (name, address, phone number, email) followed by the date. If this is an email rather than an actual letter, include your contact information at the end of the letter, after your signature.
If you're emailing a cover letter with a signature you should use a professional sign off (such as sincerely, sincerely yours, best regards or most sincerely) followed by your full name written underneath. You don't need to sign the letter by hand when signing a cover letter electronically.
