The software is excellent - really easy to use. Do you have to pay for NFC?
A contactless payment is a transaction that requires no physical contact between a device (aka a smartphone) and a payments terminal. Meaning, people can just hold up their mobile devices to pay. In an NFC payment, you hold your device to a reader to pay.
How does NFC payment work?
NFC payment works when users pay with their smartphones in lieu of credit cards simply by waving their phone in front of a terminal. SE, on the other hand, operates a bit like an MV chip card, by using tokenization embedded in the device itself. This means that a user's credit card number is never stored on the phone.

Is it OK to leave NFC on?
If you rarely use NFC, then it's a good idea to turn it OFF. Since NFC is very short range technology and if you don't lose your phone, then there are not much security concerns left with it. But NFC has a real effect on battery life. You will need to test out how much battery life you gain by turning it OFF.

For the most part, there are two options. You can enter a PIN code (which means that NFC payments are as secure as your credit or debit card). The bottom line here is that yes, NFC payments are pretty secure. At least as secure as your credit or debit card, and potentially even safer if you use a biometric lock.
