For pdfFiller’s FAQs

Below is a list of the most common customer questions. If you can’t find an answer to your question, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
If you are writing a personal recommendation letter, include a salutation (Dear Dr. Williams, Dear Ms. Miller, etc.). If you are writing a general letter, say “To Whom it May Concern" or simply don't include a salutation.
Don't ask someone to lie; you should aim for a truthful reference. Don't ever forge signatures. Your recommendation letter must be genuine. Don't be surprised if the person you are asking for a recommendation letter asks you to write a letter that they will later modify and sign.
Colleges often ask for two or three recommendation letters from people who know you well. These letters should be written by someone who can describe your skills, accomplishments and personality. Colleges value recommendations because they: Reveal things about you that grades and test scores can't.
Think carefully before saying yes. Follow a business letter format. Focus on the job description. Explain how you know the person, and for how long. Focus on one or two traits. Remain positive. Share your contact information. Follow the submission guidelines.
If you are writing a personal recommendation letter, include a salutation (Dear Dr. Williams, Dear Ms. Miller, etc.). If you are writing a general letter, say “To Whom it May Concern" or simply don't include a salutation.
How do you sign off a letter of recommendation? Start your closing state with “In conclusion," or "In summary," before going to give your full backing for the person you are recommending. Finally, sign off with “Yours sincerely."
It is important because most colleges and universities that require letters of recommendation from teachers ask that the letters be from teachers who have taught the student in the final 2 years of high school (junior/senior year).
When we talk about the signature in an electronic letter of recommendation, I should say that it is not always mandatory. But in case you are an authorized person, you should include a signature to your piece of writing.
Every recommendation letter should include three key components: A paragraph or sentence that explains how you know this person and the duration of your relationship with them. An evaluation of the person and their skills/accomplishments.
A recommendation letter should include information on who you are, your connection with the person you are recommending, why they are qualified, and the specific skills they have. Whenever possible, it's helpful to provide specific anecdotes and examples that illustrate your support.
What Makes a Great Recommendation Letter? Your recommendation letter should come from a recent teacher or other source who knows you well. Your letter should highlight your most important personal and academic strengths, as well as support them with examples. First, ask a teacher who supports you and knows you well.
Sealed envelope for recommendation letters. Most universities say that they want the recommendation letters of the referees to be in sealed envelopes, and that the referee should sign across the seal, and cover with sticky tape.
Use tape or glue. If you don't have a seal, you can use scotch or masking tape to secure the envelope. Double-sided tape is most ideal. You can also use any household adhesive like rubber cement or crafts glues. If you only have one-sided tape, fold it back on itself so that the sticky side is pointing out.
Provide Your Resume. Share your resume to give the professor a summary of your extracurricular achievements and your work experience. Include a Cover Letter. Request a Meeting If Possible. Be Clear About What You Want. Give as Much Notice as You Can.
In the academic world, recommendation letters tend to be kept confidential. Your teacher or counselor may show you the letter and ask for your feedback or revisions, but this depends on the person. Even if you're burning with curiosity, you shouldn't pressure your recommenders to show you the letter.
