I love it Its it is so easy to use. The only problem is I don't need it often enough to pay the cost of it. I only needed a couple of forms, but for a business I can see were it would be a great investment.

For pdfFiller’s FAQs

Below is a list of the most common customer questions. If you can’t find an answer to your question, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
There are three common geometrics- based methods of scaling hardwood logs: Doyle, Scribner, and International ¼-Inch (Freeze 1973, Bond 2011). The Doyle rule estimates lumber recovery based on log diameter, length, residue, and saw Kerr.
The three most common rules are the Doyle, Scribner Decimal C and International 1/4 -inch.
To use the scale, first measure the average diameter of the small end of the log inside the bark (in inches). Locate that row on the scale. Next, measure the length of the log (in feet). Move over on the scale to that length column.
Scribner-Doyle rule or scale A method of estimating the amount of lumber that can be cut from a saw-log. Also called the Doyle's, Connecticut River, Scribner's or Connecticut rule. The result, in board feet, is an estimate of the amount of lumber that can be cut from the log.
To use the scale, first measure the average diameter of the small end of the log inside the bark (in inches). Locate that row on the scale. Next, measure the length of the log (in feet). Move over on the scale to that length column.
If you take the average diameter of both ends of your log, and use that as the diameter of that cylinder, find the area of that diameter (pi x radius squared) in square meters, times the length of the log in meters, you should have the volume of the cylinder (log) in cubic meters.
To estimate the board feet from a log, measure the average diameter of the smaller part of the log in inches. Then, measure the length of the log in feet. Move the scale's marker over to where these two measurements meet. Where the two measurements intersect is the approximate board foot output.
The Scribner Log Rule, developed around 1846, is a good example of a diagram rule. It was created by drawing the cross-sections of 1-inch boards within circles representing the end view of logs. A space of 1/4 inch was left between the boards to account for saw Kerr.
