How to Unlock and Encrypt PDFs in Microsoft Edge

Unlocking and encrypting PDFs in Microsoft Edge is a simple process that can help you protect your sensitive documents. Follow these steps to use the Unlock PDF and Encrypt PDF feature:

01
Open Microsoft Edge on your computer.
02
Navigate to the PDF file you want to unlock or encrypt.
03
Click on the three-dot menu icon in the top-right corner of the browser window.
04
From the dropdown menu, select 'Open with' and choose 'Microsoft Edge' if it's not already selected.
05
Once the PDF file is open in Microsoft Edge, click on the 'More actions' icon (three-dot menu) in the top-right corner of the PDF viewer.
06
From the dropdown menu, select 'Unlock PDF' if you want to remove any password restrictions from the PDF file. If the PDF file is not password-protected, this option will be grayed out.
07
If you want to encrypt the PDF file with a password, select 'Encrypt PDF' from the dropdown menu. You will be prompted to enter a password for the PDF file.
08
Enter a strong password for the PDF file and click 'Encrypt'. Make sure to choose a password that is difficult to guess and includes a combination of letters, numbers, and special characters.
09
Once the PDF file is unlocked or encrypted, you can save it to your computer by clicking on the 'Save' icon in the top-right corner of the PDF viewer.
10
Choose a location on your computer to save the unlocked or encrypted PDF file and click 'Save'.

That's it! You have successfully unlocked or encrypted a PDF file using the Unlock PDF and Encrypt PDF feature in Microsoft Edge. Now you can securely share or store your PDF documents.

I am a slow learner...give me more time.I am 68 and not internet literate. It's better for me to fill out Government Forms through PDF Filler than in my own handwriting. It look very professional and understandable. It's like I got a Secretary. I would like to learn more about faxing and emails.

PDFfiller Review Our forms are more professional looking and neater, if this was not easy to use it wouldn't be worth the time but almost any fillable form is either tied to this program or easy to download and complete. I just tripped across this site last year and needed a vehicle to download lots of forms that needed filling and I like the professional look over filling with ink. This product works great for all that. Easy to load doc's and use and save. Struggle to get lettering the right size sometimes.
