Open the document that has the picture that you want to place the watermark on. Go to the Page Layout tab. Select Page Background group. Click on Watermark. Click Custom Watermark. Click Text watermark. A box will open up. Type the text that you want to use as a watermark in the box. Click Insert.
However, there is no built-in watermark option for photos you insert into Word documents. As a workaround, place an image inside of a shape, then adjust the image's transparency to use it as a watermark over any photo in your document.
On the Page Layout tab, within the Page Background group, click Watermark. Click the Custom Watermark option. Click Picture watermark, and then click Select Picture. Select the picture that you want to use as your watermark.
Browse to the photograph that you want to add a watermark to, click the photograph, and then click Insert. On the Insert tab, in the Text group, click WordArt, and then click the text style that you want to use for your watermark. Select the watermark, and then drag it to the position that you want.
Click the picture that you want to create transparent areas in. Under Picture Tools, on the Format tab, in the Adjust group, click Recolor. Click Set Transparent Color, and then click the color in the picture or image that you want to make transparent. Notes:
