How do blind people sign legal documents?

Direct the signer's hand to the signature block to sign. If the person is unable to sign, a signature by Mark “X" will suffice. Ensure you follow your state notary law requirements regarding Signatures by Mark. Do not allow the signer to use a signature stamp to sign the document.

How do blind people sign things?

Depending on the jurisdiction, a solicitor or a notary public can sign the document on their behalf — often after having the document read out to them if they so wish. Blind people are incapable of moving their hands, so no, they can't sign anything.

How do you notarize someone who can't sign?

For a signature by mark, the signer does not have to write out a full name. Instead, they make an 'X' or similar mark in front of witnesses, which can then be notarized. Depending on the state, you may need one or two witnesses.

Do both parties need to be present for notarization?

Do all parties have to be present at the same place and time for a document to be notarized? Usually not, but it is best to ask your selected notary regarding the proper procedures in your state.
