Good for someone who isn't tech savy
While I'd like to think I am pretty good with a computer -- I am by no means the level of a graphic designer or anything like that. But I do a lot of work with pdfs that need to be tweaked a bit and this is easy to use!
The initial use can be a little daunting to someone who is new. But it's easy to figure out once you get a hang of it.

Why won't my phone connect to my computer when I plug it in?
Please go to Settings → Applications → Development and enable USB debugging option. Connect the Android device to the computer via the USB cable. Check the notification message: Tap the top status bar (the USB icon in the upper-left corner), and drag the status bar down.
Why won't my iPhone connects to my computer when I plug it in?
Often, the failure of your iPhone to connect to your computer simply results from a faulty cable. As such, you should make sure you're using the cable supplied with your iPhone, or at least an official Apple cable you purchased separately. Check the USB port. Try plugging the iPhone into a different USB port.
Why can't I see my phone when I plug it into my computer?
Solution 1 Check USB computer connection settings On your Android device open Settings and go to Storage. Tap the more icon in the top right corner and choose USB computer connection. From the list of options select Media device (MTP). Connect your Android device to your computer, and it should be recognized.

How do I access files on my computer from my phone?
With a USB cable, connect your phone to your computer. On your phone, tap the “Charging this device via USB” notification. Under “Use USB for,” select File Transfer. An Android File Transfer window will open on your computer.
Why does my iPhone only charge when I plug it into my computer?
You probably will be able to open it in iTunes, it's in charging mode when you connect it, and you need to get it out of that mode. I find a fix for charging it connecting to a PC, but not for USB data connection. Using a microUSB to lighting adapter and a USB-MicroUSB cable for power only, you can charge with a PC.
