Can I Sell a Car in Alabama Without a Title? The Alabama DMV requires a title to sell a vehicle that was manufactured later than 1975. If your title is lost, duplicate titles can be obtained from the Alabama DMV.
The date of the sale. A description of the car, including its: Year, make and model. The selling price of the car. If the car is a gift or partial gift, you should still create a bill of sale. Warranty information. The full names, addresses and signatures of the buyer and seller.
Your business's name, the price, the date and the location of the sale must be written on the bill of sale. You may need to include the buyer's name. A bill of sale needs to state if the sale includes a warranty or if you are selling the item as is.
A vehicle bill of sale is not required in all states. A bill of sale is only a record that a sales transaction occurred between two parties. Your state's DMV may require that you bring a completed bill of sale with you before the vehicle title transfer paperwork can be completed.

In simple terms, a bill of sale agreement is nothing more than a contract for the purchase of a vehicle between a buyer and a seller. In most cases, the contract is legally binding between buyer and seller as long as the bill of sale follows guidelines required in the state where the sale or transfer takes place.
The bill of sale is required to prove the validity of purchase, ensure that it is genuine, and that the price paid is the same as the buyer claims. The five states that do require you to get a bill of sale notarized are Louisiana, Maryland, Nebraska, New Hampshire, and West Virginia.
Notarized Bill of Sale Form. The Notarized Bill of Sale Form is a document that allows the transfer of any type of personal property (vehicle, boat, etc.) that is witnessed by a notary public. This designation is provided by every State and when a Notary signs a document, it becomes legally witnessed.
Any bill of sale can be voided three days after the sale if the payment or security does not come through, if the person buying the vehicle files for bankruptcy or any other financial reason in which they cannot pay for the vehicle. This is all detailed in the schedule of property and transaction date.
For the seller, a bill of sale shows the date the vehicle was sold and information about the buyer. For the buyer, it gives specific information about the vehicle that can be checked against a Vehicle History Report. A bill of sale does not prove ownership only a title transfer does that.
