Very quick, efficient and courteous customer service. My elderly mother subscribed to this service and couldn't remember why. Who do I make out my tax check to?
Make your check or money order payable to United States Treasury. Don't send cash. If you want to pay in cash, in person, see Pay by cash. Make sure your name and address appear on your check or money order. Enter your daytime phone number and your SSN on your check or money order.
Does the IRS accept personal checks?
Check or money order The IRS still accepts checks and money orders. Checks are preferable because they're free, and you don't have to drive anywhere to write a check.
Do I have to write my Social Security number on my check to the IRS?
Make your check or money order payable to the check or money order payable to the United States Treasury for the full amount due. Do not send cash. Do not attach the payment to your return. Write 2009 Form 1040 and your name, address, daytime phone number, and social security number (SSN) on your payment.
Will the IRS accept a check made out to IRS?
Checks and money orders should be made payable to “United States Treasury.” Checks and money orders made payable to “Internal Revenue Service”, “U.S. Treasury”, or “Department of The Treasury” can still be accepted and processed.
Is it safe to write SSN on check to IRS?
TL;DR — If you don't put your SSN on your check, it may not be properly credited to your account. You should write your full SS number, but you can write just the last 4 numbers xxx-xx-1111. Make sure your check has your current address on it and write what tax you want to pay for such as 2018 1040.
How do you fill out a money order for rent?
Fill in the recipient's name.
