As a general rule, LPNs can't start IVs or push IV medications. They can't manage critical IV drips. RN's can make a nursing diagnosis and formulate a plan of care, LPNs follow that plan of care. Off the top of my head, an LPN cannot do patient assessments, create care plans or push IV drugs.
