What is the merge formatting?
Merge Formatting This option changes the formatting so that it matches the text that surrounds it. Picture This option inserts the text as an image. Use Destination Styles This option formats the text to match the style that's applied where the text is pasted.
How do you merge formatting in Word?
Open your document in Word. Right-click in an area of the document where you want to paste and merge the text. Click on the “Merge Formatting” icon under the Paste Options section of the context menu. The pasted text will now align with the current style for that section of your document.
What is the merge formatting Paste command?
Merge Formatting: This command pastes just the text you've copied but changes the formatting to match the surrounding text into which you're pasting. Keep Text Only: This command removes all formatting from the original text. The text will take on the default formatting of the paragraph into which you insert the text.
How do I copy and paste with formatting?
Copy text by selecting the Edit>Copy command or the by using the keyboard shortcut Cmd-C. Select text that you would like to paste the formatting onto. Go to the Edit Menu and Select “Edit Special>Paste Style”.
