This course covers all that is needed to evaluate the overall risk with an emphasis on the safety, environmental performance, process consistency and safety in both design and implementation scenarios. The course will incorporate a mix of lecture and practical exercises, and will be delivered by Dr. Neil M. Rid dell. It will also include an introduction to the quantitative methodologies needed to perform the quantitative analyses needed to support the analysis of data generated by safety studies. Prerequisite(s) 1) Proposal for research project on process safety and/or process consistency; 2) The ability to write a clear, concise and coherent research proposal; 3) A working knowledge of the basic safety analysis approach, including probability distributions and statistical methods; 4) A familiarity with the use of quantitative risk assessment tools; and/or Course will be taught by qualified research team, i.e. a PhD/Research Fellow (and/or Post-doctoral Fellow if teaching), based on previous experience in research. Note: This course will be delivered online and will require access to the internet. The internet connection is included. Rid dell is a Lecturer in the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Director of the Center for Sustainable Chemical Systems Research at Strathclyde University. Prior to joining the School he was Head of Research of the Scottish Institute for Mining and Metallurgy. He has a PhD from Glasgow Caledonian University and was awarded a Royal Society PhD scholarship for his dissertation in 2009. He works with a wide range of industrial researchers including industrial partners, students and industry colleagues. Neil M. is co-founder and has been Chair of the UK Program of the European Union's Joint Research Center for Industrial Engineering and Biotechnology.
