Hey guys welcome to my blog my name is Julie today what I want to talk about is drop in tax money basically you're probably aware that drop has been really popular the last few years they're usually filing taxes with dead people's Social Security numbers or even the elderly, but I guess this year people got really greedy and started using anybody's Social Security numbers because mine was used um how I found out was I use Turbo Tax calm and when I try to do my file I got a rejection error saying that typically a social security number was already used Turbo Tax gave me instructions to call the IRS just to make sure, and I called their fraud hotline the number I will post below and basically the IRS confirmed that somebody did try to file taxes with my social security number, and they did ask me for my bank information what job I had last year basically think little things like that, and they realized that you know it wasn't me, and they gave me full instructions of what to do it's a pain in the butt but to be honest with you, I finished everything in about two hours it's just a lot of being put on hold and scanning pretty much that's it but to give you an idea you do have to first call the IRS and make sure that it really did happen because sometimes it could be a mistake on Turbo Tax or like any kind of tax preparation program a lot of people didn't have comments that nobody had used there social security number, but after you confirm with them, you're going to have to call the Federal Trade Commission and report with them the Social Security Administration and then one of the three credit bureaus whether it's Equifax Experian or TransUnion it's just one because they let the other to know basically what you're going to do is put like a 90-day alert fraud alert on your account and then what you're going to have to do is mail in your w-2 your paper tax returns copies of at least two forms of identification including passport social security number or your driver's license and then what you're going to have to do is go on the IRS website and download form one four zero three nine which is an identity theft form, and you're going to have to fill that out and send that in, and basically you're going to have to mail if it's going to take longer to get your tax money back I mean you're probably looking at least six weeks to two months, but the good news is you going to get your return, and hopefully they catch whoever just in it but anyways I will put all the information below and what I'm going to do is give you the phone numbers, but you can also do certain things online like for example Equifax what I did was I went to Equifax calm while I was on hold because it was taking forever, and they actually had a form that I could fill out and send it, so I will provide that link and then also for the Social Security Administration they also have a website the inspector general website I'll look it up and post it for you guys, and you can also fill that...
