The 990 EZ Form is for small- to medium-sized organizations that have gross receipts of less than $200,000 and less than $500,000 in total assets at the end of the year. This includes: Tax-exempt organizations.
For tax years ending before July 31, 2021, the IRS will accept either paper or electronic filing of Form 990-EZ, Short Form Return of Organization Exempt from Income Tax. For tax years ending July 31, 2021, and later, Forms 990-EZ must be filed electronically.
Filing Requirements Form 990 is for tax-exempt organizations with gross receipts of $200,000 or more (or) total assets of $500,000 or more, whereas Form 990-EZ is for organizations with gross receipts less than $200,000 (and) total assets less than $500,000.
