Hello and welcome to the CFC charity application training series my name is Keith Willing ham, and I'm the director of the office of combined Federal Campaign we have put together a series of short training videos that we believe will be helpful and make completing your CFC application as easy as possible most of you know that the CFC was created by executive order and enables federal postal and military personnel to donate their money in time to helping those in need also the CFC is the only government authorized solicitation of employees in the federal workplace the Office of Personnel Management is responsible for developing regulations and policies that govern the program there were several changes that took effect in 2017 that changed the way charities apply to participate in the CFC first and most notable is that all charities must now apply using our online charity application system paper applications are no longer accepted second charities are required to submit a full application with the schedule of services and all other required supporting documentation once every three years in the two intervening years charities need only provide a verification application this abbreviated application requires charities to complete the necessary certification statements and submit an IRS Form 990 all charities that are new to the CFC must submit the full application if your organization has participated previously in the CFC the online system will guide you to the appropriate application this training series will also guide you through the process third the audit requirements changed in 2017 charities with revenue less than a hundred thousand dollars are not required to submit any financial statements with their application charities with revenue of a hundred thousand but less than 250000 are required to submit a review of their financial statements however all organizations are required to certify that they properly account for their finances this training series will cover this requirement in greater detail finally although much of the information is required to be submitted by the CFC application deadline some information may be provided later such as banking and disbursement information care statements or messages and volunteering opportunities that you may offer this information is required only upon approval of your application well these are some key changes these changes will be discussed in more detailed throughout the training I believe this training series will be helpful to you and your organization and make completing your CFC application as easy as possible
