All applications for student funding are dealt with by Student Finance. They act as a centralized processing house for applications not only from new students, but also those currently at university, and re-applying for their funding. Due to this they are incredibly busy, and it can take up to 6 weeks for each new form to go through the system. Just like UCAS this is an online application;you register your details and complete the form before submitting it electronically. If you preferred to make a paper based application then all you need to do is contact Student Finance and request that this is sent tout to your home address. Wherever possible we would recommend that the form is completed online, as it is often quicker and prevents sensitive information being sent through the post. Applications for funding support open in helping of Year 13 and close at the end of May, giving you a significant time in which to complete your form. However, due to coursework and exam revision we advise students to complete their application as soon as possible, ensuring that it is submitted well before the deadline. If you are late submitting an application you will receive funding support, however there is no guarantee that this money will be with you for the start of term. In order to begin the process you need to visit www.direct.gov.uk/studentfinanceNot only does this page host the form, it is also a source of information for you and those supporting your application. It is important that all the information that you provide is accurate as a mistake could lead to incorrect funds being issued, therefore consult the website thoroughly if you are unsure about any aspect. If you still can't find an answer to your question, contact the designated student helpline (0300 100 0607)where a member of the Student Finance team will be happy to advise you. The first step that you will need to complete is registering your details;this requires your name, date of birth, and national insurance number. Once registered you will be issued with a Customer Reference Number, or CRN which is the password that lets you in and out of the site. This is an 11-digit number and difficult to remember off the top of your head, therefore so make sure you write it down in a safe place! As you begin to populate the form with your details you will find that it automatically eliminates any section that isn't relevant to your situation, making the process as quicksand efficient as possible. If you opted to share your details with UCAS you will find that some elements have already been completed for you. Each new application is required to be supported by a form of ID. The easiest way to do this is with your passport. You simply need to input your passport number, which is in the top right-hand corner of the photograph page. If you do not have a passport, if you have lost it, or it is out of date, then you need to submit an original copy of your birth certificate to Student Finance. Once you...
