What Is a Sworn Statement?
A sworn statement is a common process in jurisprudence. It has several names and can be called a declaration and a statement under penalty of perjury. The last one reveals the essence of the document the best. The person that fills the declaration must fill it out honestly and without providing false information. This declaration can look like an affidavit, but there are some differences among them. Firstly, a statement does not require an additional witness and seal by an official. Secondly, the person who fills the affidavit is an "affiant" and the person who fills the declaration is a "declarant". Despite these little differences, both documents are equally accepted by the court.
