What happens if you forget to seal instant?

Mistake #3: You forget to seal your Instant Pot's valve “You will know that you may have forgotten to set the valve to 'sealing' when you hear air escaping from around the sealing ring after the pot has come up to pressure.” Then, reset the cooking time and restart the Instant Pot. No harm done.

Is the steam release handle supposed to be loose?
