Can R read PDF files?
The tools package provides functions for extracting text from PDF files. NOTE: the code above only works if you have your working directory set to the folder where you downloaded the PDF files. A quick way to do this in Studio is to go to Session The PDF files are now in R, ready to be cleaned up and analyzed.
How do I convert a PDF to text in R?
To convert many profiles, we write a function that preforms the conversion for many documents. We can now apply the function to the folder in which we have stored the PDFs. The output is a vector with the texts of the PDFs. The output of the STR() function shows that we have converted 4 PDFs into textiles.
