Open Windows Settings. Click on Apps. Click on Default apps. Click the Choose default apps by file type link. Scroll down and find .pdf (PDF File), and click the button on the right side, which is likely to read “Microsoft Edge” Select your app from the list to set it as the new default.
You can try troubleshooting all of your Safari plug-ins by disabling them. To do this, go to Safari's preferences, and in the “Security” section deselect the option to “Enable plug-ins.” Then try viewing a PDF again, which should be done solely with the built-in PDF renderer.
To encrypt a PDF file, follow these steps: 1) Locate the encrypted PDF file you want to encrypt, and open it in Preview on your Mac. 3) Once you're in the file, go to File > Export from the Menu Bar. 4) Make sure to rename the file, then make sure the Encrypt option is unchecked.
Just right-click on the PDF file you wish to protect and select Open With followed by Preview. It will launch the file in Preview on your Mac. Since the file is password protected, the app should ask you to enter the password for the file before you can view its content.
