Each request must be considered and based on: Sincerely held beliefs of the requestor. its unique facts. the nature of the requested religious accommodation. the effect of approval or denial on the service member's exercise of religion. and the effect of approval or denial on mission accomplishment, including unit cohesion.
The wear and appearance standards in AR 670-1 will apply to all Soldiers with an accommodation permitting the following faith practices: the wear of a hijab or headscarf, a beard, or a turban or under-turban/patka with uncut beard and uncut hair.
