Data classification is the process of organizing data by agreed-on categories. Thoroughly planned classification enables more efficient use and protection of critical data across the organization and contributes to risk management, legal discovery and compliance processes.
Typically, organizations that store and process commercial data use 4 levels of data classification, which include three confidential levels (secret, confidential, business use only) and one public level.
Data classification can help you make this determination. An effective data classification process is important because it can help organizations determine the appropriate levels of control to maintain the confidentiality and integrity of their data.
Highlight the rows and/or columns you want sorted. Navigate to “Data” along the top and select “Sort.” If sorting by column, select the column you want to order your sheet by.
