Had an issue with billing today (a Saturday) however after emailing their customer service team I got a very quick response and kept getting help and support until the issue was resolved, on the same day. The person I was in contact with was very polite, understanding and genuinely wanted to help. The service itself is great and I would recommend it to any business that needs to edit and sign documents online .

What is column efficiency?
Column efficiency, also known as plate count, is a measure of the dispersion of a peak. Narrow peaks take up less space in the chromatogram and thus allow more peaks to be separated. Efficiency is usually explained using the concept of theoretical plates.
How do you calculate column efficiency?
Column efficiency, indicated as the number of theoretical plates per column, is calculated as N = 5.54 (tR / w0.5)2 where tRy is the retention time of the analyte of interest and w0.5 the width of the peak at half height.
What is column efficiency in column chromatography?
Band broadening (column efficiency) After injection, a narrow chromatographic band is broadened during its movement through the column. The higher the column band broadening, the smaller the number of components that can be separated in a given time. This has become the accepted expression of column efficiency.

What is column resolution?
Resolution. The resolution of an elation is a quantitative measure of how well two elation peaks can be differentiated in a chromatographic separation. It is defined as the difference in retention times between the two peaks, divided by the combined widths of the elation peaks.
How do you find the resolution of a column?
Resolution is calculated using the separation of two peaks in terms of their average peak width at the base (tR2 > tR1). In the case of two adjacent peaks, it may be assumed that the peak width at the base wb1 wb2, and thus, the width of the second peak may be substituted for the average value.
How does Column length affect resolution?
Doubling column length increases resolution but only by a factor of 1.4. Short column lengths (30-50 mm) will give short run times and low back pressures and are ideal for gradient analyses. Longer columns (250-300 mm) will give greater resolution but with longer analysis times and at a greater cost.
