Enter “=" followed by the number you wish to format into the “Formula" field. Select a number formatting option from the “Number Format" drop-down and then click “OK." For example, select "$#,##0.00;($#,##0.00)” to format the numbers as currency with parentheses representing any negative values.
Select the text or numbered list you want to change. On the Home tab, in the Paragraph group, click the arrow next to Numbered List. To change the style, click the down arrow next to Number style and choose numbers, letters, or another chronological format.
Those who are familiar with the rich formatting features of Excel may long for a way to format numbers in a Word table just as easily. Unfortunately, Word does not allow you to do this type of formatting directly. There is a work-around, however. You can use a field to insert any number you want in any format you want.
To format tables in Word by applying a table style, click into the table to format. Click the Design tab in the Table Tools contextual tab in the Ribbon. Then scroll through the list of styles in the Table Styles button group. Then click a style to apply it to the table.

The Format property affects only how data is displayed. It doesn't affect how data is stored. Microsoft Office Access 2007 provides predefined formats for Date/Time, Number and Currency, Text and Memo, and Yes/No data types.

Format a number or currency field. When you apply a format to a table field, that same format is automatically applied to any form or report control that you subsequently bind to that table field. Formatting only changes how the data is displayed and does not affect how the data is stored or how users enter data.
Open your Microsoft Access database. Right click the table your query is based on. Choose the "Design View" option from the list. Locate the field that you want to change. In the “Data Type" column, click the drop-down arrow to select a new data type. Click the "File" option on the top menu. Open your query.
