Cost of USPS Text Tracking: SMS messaging is a free service but not available in all areas. Your internet service provider will charge you an amount for sending a text to USPS. USPS and the mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
USPS Tracking is included for FREE when you ship with Express Mail, Priority Mail, Parcel Select or First Class Package Service using Stamps.com. If purchasing postage at the Post Office, USPS Tracking is included for free when you use Express Mail, Priority Mail or Standard Post (formerly known as Parcel Post).
How much does USPS tracking cost? On the individual package, for any First Class, Priority Mail or Priority Express Mail package, the cost of tracking is very low. It is only $1.05 directly at the post office counter, or you can add it to your online purchase for $0.23.
USPS Text Tracking is a new mechanism by which customers can be notified of the status of their package. There are currently two ways that customers can request Text Tracking: Send a text to 28777 (2USPS) with their tracking number as the content of the message.
There is no additional cost for the tracking mechanism on products that automatically include USPS Tracking. Basically, you pay for that product's postage, and tracking is included, unless you are shipping USPS Marketing Mail® parcels. Adding USPS Tracking to that commercial mailing service requires paying a fee.
