Easy to use. I always send the doc to myself before emailing to final destination, just so I know what it looks like on the receiver's end. Adding a personal note to the email is a bit cumbersome--could be better explained of who sees what.

Click the Edit tool. On the Editor toolbar. Click the features you want to merge. The features must be from the same layer. Click the Editor menu and click Merge. Click the feature that the features will be merged into and will supply the attributes for the merged feature. Click OK.
To combine, or plagiarize, feature geometries, use the Union tool. If feature classes are being merged, the output dataset will be in the coordinate system of the first feature class in the Input Datasets list, unless the Output Coordinate System reprocessing environment is set.
3 Answers. You want to Merge. In the Field Mapping dialog, right-click the first unique field where you want all unique fields to be, click “add input field” and select another unique field. Do this multiple times.
Select the folder where the two (or more) shape files you want to merge are located using the Browse button. Click browse next to Output shape file, find your working folder, and name the output shape file. Click OK.
3) Select the polygons you want to merge (hold the Shift key while selecting the features so that you can select more than one), click the drop-down arrow next to Editor on the Editor toolbar and click Merge. 4) Save your edits.
Click on the Vector menu, Data Management tools, Merge Shape files to One Ensure the correct shape file type is selected (points, lines, or polygons). Select the folder where the two (or more) shape files you want to merge are located using the Browse button.
