How can I compare two documents for differences?
Open the documents that you want to compare. On the Review tab, in the Compare group, click Compare. Click Compare two versions of a document (legal black line). Under Original document, browse for the document that you want to use as the original document.
Do footnotes go inside or outside quotation marks?
Both footnotes and end notes require that a superscript number be placed wherever documentation is necessary. The number should be as near as possible to whatever it refers to, following the punctuation (such as quotation marks, a comma, or a period) that appears at the end of the direct or indirect quotation.
Should footnotes go inside or outside punctuation?
When a footnote must be placed at the end of a clause,1 add the number after the comma. When a footnote must be placed at the end of a sentence, add the number after the period. Numbers denoting footnotes should always appear after punctuation, except one piece of punctuation3the dash.

The footnote number should be placed at the end of the sentence or the end of a clause in a sentence.
Do references go inside or outside the period?
In the IEEE editor's style manual it says on page 34: References in Text: References need not be cited in the text. When they are, they appear on the line, in square brackets, inside the punctuation. Grammatically, they may be treated as if they were footnote numbers
Where do you put footnotes in text?
Footnotes are listed at the bottom of the page on which a citation is made. A numeral is placed in the text to indicate the cited work and again at the bottom of the page in front of the footnote. A footnote lists the author, title and details of publication, in that order.
Where do footnotes go after a quote?
Footnote or end note numbers in the text should follow punctuation, and preferably be placed at the end of a sentence. When citing the source for a quotation, the number should be placed at the end of the quotation and not after the author's name if that appears first in the text.
How do you quote with footnotes?
Direct quotes (short) Use quotation marks ' at the beginning and end of the copied text. Place the (sequential) footnote number at the end of the sentence containing the quotation.
