OCP CA-1: Traumatic Injury Claim. April 6, 2011, By fwccadmin9017. Traumatic injury means a wound or other condition of the body caused by external force, including stress or strain, which is identifiable as to time and place of occurrence and member or function of the body affected.
The Federal Employees' Compensation Act (FCA) provides that a claim for compensation must be filed within 3 years of the date of injury.
Even though an employee has three years to claim a traumatic injury, all traumatic injuries should be reported on a Form CA-1 as soon as possible and definitely within 30 days.
There is no specific time limits for OCP to process your CA-7 other that it should be done as quickly as possible, but it has been my experience that if there are no other issues going on with your claim, and they do not dispute the CA-7 it usually takes 2-4 weeks for them to process and issue check or direct deposit.
Federal Workers' Compensation. Form CA-7 is used by federal workers seeking to claim compensation for traumatic injuries suffered while on the job, as well as those who may have sustained an occupational disease during the performance of work-related duties.
