I'm not much of a typer so the only real thing i can see that bugs me is that on CONTINUATION SHEET INSPECTOR GENERAL ACTION REQUEST (DA 1559) it will not auto go to the next line it brakes up words at the end of the line so i found myself spending a good amount of time looking back to make sure that i started a word that would have not fit at the end and ended up broke in 2. I just got this and still learning so if there is a setting that i have yet to find i'm sorry about that

What ended convict leasing?
Industrialization, economic shifts, and political pressure ended widespread convict leasing by World War II, but the Thirteenth Amendment's dangerous loophole still permits the enslavement of prisoners who continue to work without pay in various public and industries.
Why was the convict lease system abolished?
Farmers and businessmen needed to find replacements for the labor force once their slaves had been freed. The constitutional basis for convict leasing is that the 1865 Thirteenth Amendment, while abolishing slavery and involuntary servitude generally, permits it as a punishment for crime.
When did the convict lease system end?
Texas began convict leasing by 1883 and officially abolished it in 1910. A cemetery containing what are believed to be the remains of 95 “slave convicts” has recently (2018) been discovered in Sugar Land, today a suburb of Houston.
What was a problem with convict leasing?
Convict laborers were often dismally treated, but the convict lease system was highly profitable for the states and the employers. As public sympathy grew towards the plight of convict laborers, Southern states struggled over what to do. The loss of revenue was significant, and the cost of housing convicts high.
Why did the system of convict leasing begin?
The convict leasing system arose to fill the labor void. In most of the South, state governments began leasing out prisoners to various private businesses, such as coal-mining companies, railroads, planters, or logging companies. Workers in the convict leasing system were literally worked to death in some instances.
Who created convict leasing?
Provisional governor Thomas Ruler awarded the first convict lease to William A. Fort of the Georgia and Alabama Railroad on May 11, 1868. Fort was given 100 African American prison laborers for one year at the price of $2,500.
How long did convict leasing last?
Convict leasing began in Alabama in 1846 and lasted until July 1, 1928, when Herbert Hoover was vying for the White House. In 1883, about 10 percent of Alabama's total revenue was derived from convict leasing.
How much revenue did the State of Alabama gain in its first year of convict leasing by 1890?
Revenue immediately jumped, and the state made a profit of between $11,000 and $12,000 in the first year.
