State Oversize/Overweight Load Permit Contacts To obtain State permits, you will need to contact the State(s) in which you wish to travel. See below for the State permitting website, or contact the State permitting office by telephone.
State Regulations and Over width Permits Fees for permits are determined by the nature of the load and vary from state to state. Fees range from as little as $15.00 to more than $70 for the same basic load, depending on the state. There may also be a fee of approximately $15.00 to process the application.
Oversize and/or overpass (BOSOM) vehicles and loads. A vehicle or vehicle combination is considered to be BOSOM if it exceeds any general access mass or dimension limits. Typical examples include: Agricultural machines such as harvesters and grain augers.
Dealers will issue 1 temporary tag per new vehicle, which must be displayed on the rear of the vehicle. The expiration date on the temporary tag must be clearly written or stamped in black ink. All information on the temporary tag must be legible.
2.5 Temporary permits and dealer stubs shall be kept in a secure location. Dealers shall contact local law enforcement within 24 hours and file a police report for any temporary permit(s) or dealer stub(s) that are lost or stolen.
Temporary tags expire at midnight on the date shown on the temporary tag. There is no grace or extension period offered for temporary tags. The Denver DMV will issue temporary tags to Denver Residents only. You may obtain a temporary tag from one of our DMV branch offices within 90 days of the purchase of a vehicle.
