How do I limit headings in a table of contents?
Go to References > Table of Contents. Select Custom table of contents. Use the settings to show, hide, and align page numbers, add or change the tab leader, set formats, and specify how many levels of headings to show. For more info, see Custom table of contents.
How do I change the headings in a table of contents?
Go to References > Update Table. Select one of the following: Update page numbers only This only updates the pages that the headings are on, and ignores any changes to the heading text. Update entire table This will reflect any updates to the heading text, as well as any page changes. Select OK.
How do you change the heading level in a table of contents?
Click anywhere inside the TOC. Go to the References tab > Table of Contents > Insert Table of Contents. On the Table of Contents windows, change the Show levels setting from 3 to 4 or 5, depending on how deep you want to go. Click OK. Say Yes to replace the existing TOC.
