Most Sectional charts are printed every six months. However, if your chart is more than 8 weeks old it probably isn't current. Aeronautical information changes frequently. More frequently than every six months.

The supplements are designed to be used in conjunction with charts and is published every 56 days. The supplements also contains the Aeronautical Chart Bulletin.
How often are Represent charts updated?
REPRESENT DATA UPDATE CYCLES ARE Similar, but the primary difference is that Data databases are issued every four weeks, or 28-days, to coincide directly with the DIRAC cycle.
How often is the chart supplement US revised?
The supplements are designed to be used in conjunction with charts and is published every 56 days. The supplements also contains the Aeronautical Chart Bulletin.
How often are GPS databases updated?
The FAA is now publishing a GPS navigation database that can be purchased by consumers of navigation databases. The current cost is $156 per year. An update on CD-ROM is provided every 28 days. This compares to similar GPS updates exceeding $600 from GPS manufacturers.
What is the scale of a sectional chart?
Sectional Charts The charts have a scale of 1:500,000 (1 inch = 6.86 nautical miles (NM) or approximately 8 statute miles (SM)), which allows for more detailed information to be included on the chart. The charts provide an abundance of information, including airport data, navigational aids, airspace, and topography.
How often are IFR terminal charts updated?
Area Charts, which show congested terminal areas at a large scale, are included with subscriptions to any conterminous U.S. Set Low (Full set, East or West sets). Charts are revised every 56 days.
