What information does E Verify?
E-Verify is an Internet-based system that compares information entered by an employer from an employee's Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification, to records available to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the Social Security Administration to confirm employment eligibility.
What is E Verify USCIS?
ABOUT E-Verify. E-Verify, authorized by Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 (INDIRA), is a web-based system through which employers electronically confirm the employment eligibility of their employees. E-Verify is administered by SSA and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
Do you have to notify employees of E Verify?
Employers who participate in E-Verify must: Follow E-Verify procedures for each employee for whom an E-Verify case is created. Notify each job applicant of E-Verify participation by clearly displaying the Notice of E-Verify Participation and the Right to Work posters in English and Spanish.
What does it mean when E Verify needs more time?
A case result of Verification in Process means that DHS cannot verify the data and needs more time. The case is automatically referred for further verification. DHS will respond to most of these cases within 24 hours, although some responses may take up to 3 federal government working days.

A: Employers must retain I-9 forms for at least three years, or for one year following the employee's separation from the company, whichever is later. It is a best practice to store all I-9 forms together in one file since they must be produced promptly following an official government request.
When did e verify begin?
E-Verify was originally established in 1996 as the Basic Pilot Program to prevent undocumented migrants and other people who have violated immigration laws from obtaining employment illegally in the United States. In August 2007, DHS started by requiring all federal contractors and vendors to use E-Verify.
What is the hire date that should be used when creating an e Verify case?
The hire date is the date the employee began (or will begin) work for pay. Accepted an employment offer before the employer may complete Form I-9 and create a case in E-Verify. Employers must enter the hire date from the 'Certification' area in Section 2 of the employee's Form I-9.
